Safety

CLEANLINESS should be your top priority as an operating manager. Cleanliness is almost synonymous to food safety.

All employees are required to take the CERTIFICATION PROGRAM for safe food handling to be aware of proper food handling techniques. Employees should be educated on safe food handling methods to ensure that they serve customers food that are safe to eat.

ALL EMPLOYEES ARE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN THE FOOD HANDLING SAFETY TRAINING CERTIFICATE WITHIN THREE MONTHS OF BEING HIRED AND MUST BE UPDATED AND CURRENT.

It is your responsibility as the operating manager of CHICK-N-JOY unit to make sure that the regulations and proper techniques enforced by local health department are being practiced in your store. Employees who do not follow these regulations should not be tolerated. Always keep your guard up. Food-borne illness could be very costly for your business. Your unit could be sued for causing food-borne illness. You would have to pay the fine or shoulder the expenses of the customers that have been ill. It is very hard to win back their trust since their health might be at stake because of your recklessness. If you do not pay attention on food safety and sanitation, you might lose your business.

Daily checklist for safe food handling should be completed by the manager. This can be found in list of Store Checklists. This checklist consists of regulations and tasks that you and your employees should follow or accomplish everyday. This checklist should be completed and documented everyday. Your local health department would not notify you when they will come to your unit to conduct inspection. They could come in anytime without prior notice and shutdown your business right away if you are being neglectful. BE ON GUARD EVERY SINGLE DAY as if the health department might come in any minute for inspection.

Part of the food safety is to ensure that our stores are free from any pests. Three effective pest control activities include getting rid places where pest can live and reproduce, preventing pest to enter the work area and controlling pests entering the workplace.
